good places for young children
I'm bringing my mostly-well behaved 5 year old to San Francisco for the weekend (from LA). We are staying in the Financial District. Any suggestions for food options that are good for both me and her? Luckily she will eat anything involving noodles (which means Italian, Thai, Chinese) and Mexican. I lived in the city a life time ago (before kids) so I am fairly good at getting around with public transportation .... I know our options on a weekend are limited in the financial district.
TIA, Lori

By nature, most Chinese and Mexican places are kid friendly...and many old school Italian places are too, so in theory you have all of Chinatown and a good chunk of North Beach.

R&G is upscale and really good. Ask the servers for recommendations--don't go with the generic fare from most Chinese joints. I vaguely remember an R&G House special beef that was great as was the XO Shrimp with snap peas.
Just a tip, if you're driving to R&G, they validate parking at the nearby City garage just 1/2 block away.

If you go to R&G definitely order their salt and pepper squid (calamari) -- outstanding!
Financial district is close to a ton of great places to eat with kids. Ferry Building has Taylor's Automatic Refresher for great diner food that kids and adults will love. Also, there's a fantastic Japanese deli called Delica on the water side and Mijita (Mexican) is also good.
For good noodles, you might want to head over to Japantown: Tampopo has great ramen; Mifune has great udon; and Suzu has ramen and other stuff.
But also near you are tons of kid and adult friendly chains like Cheesecake factory (inside Macy's), California Pizza Kitchen (near SFMOMA), and Houstons and Il Fornaio (both near Levi plaza) and you can also check out the food courts in Westfield (our kids favorite) and the Metreon.

I like the food court in the Westfield a lot, and it's definitely kid friendly. But most of the restaurants there are pretty good, better than typical food court, so it's adult friendly too.
There are actually two food courts there, one with the typical mall junk and one a lot nicer.
