Omakase at Katsu-ya Encino - how is it?

Going for New Year's Eve Dinner w/ friends. I've never had an Omakase before & I'm wanting to go for the experience. Saw that they served a 7-course Omakase for $48. Is the one served here a good representation? Anything I should know beforehand?

A $48 Omakase is only going to get you the basics- the REAL basics. Yelowtail, salmon, tuna... but definitely no toro or negi-tor at $40 for just 2 pieces.

My suggestion is to share: get the spicy tuna over crispy rice, (2 or 3 even is sooo good), the albcore crispy onion, a few king crab rolls and the rock shrimp tempura.

Its 11 am and I am already craving... great choice to bring in the New Year
