Los Generales -- you could hit it with a nine iron from the Grande Lakes Resort. Authentic Mexican. Also in the same spot: Costa Del Sol, Spanish tapas at bargain prices.

In that part of town, I'd recommend Padrino's. It's a well-appointed Cuban restaurant with authentic, top-quality food. They make the maraquitas (fried banana chips) from scratch twice a day, and make fresh simple syrup for mojitos every morning. It's about 5 minutes south of Grande Lakes. You might also head to the Sand Lake Road area for Vietnamese food at Rice Paper. Everything from the Vietnamese carpaccio to the chicken curry is fabulous.

Reading below, they are all great sugestions.

One of my current favorites is Tabla (Indian), next to Universal. Their lunch buffet absolutely can't be beat for value/food quality aspect . $7 for weekday lunch buffet for very good food. $10 for weekend lunch buffet.
