Dried peppers

tasteless Dec 29, 2008 05:36 AM

Has anyone seen dried New Mexico chillies for sale around eastern Toronto or Durham region?
They used to be widely available in 2 oz. bags, but I haven't seen any for years.

    You can try Perola's (247 Augusta Avenue (416) 593-9728‎)
in Kensington market. They do have a variety of dried chilies that are sold in bulk.
I can’t verify if they have New Mexico

Whole Foods has them; I just bought a package the other day at the Yorkville store. They're hanging from hooks above the refrigerator case that holds the fruit salads/cut-up fruits.

I just bought them at the Cheese Boutique on Ripley. Perola does not have them as they are an American pepper. They are also known as Anaheim or Hatch chiles.

American pepper? Funny, all the dried chile varieties I smuggled back from Phoenix recently were from California or New Mexico. Dread to think what Cheese Ball charges for those babies!
