TN: Two Whites for our Chanukah Party
2006 Weingut H. & M. Hofer Grüner Veltliner Trocken (Weinviertel, Austria): One of favorite Grüners – crisp and clean, no caffeine, light, flavorful, the first white ever to earn the “house wine” designation at our place, and a continued favorite. Very fine. (13.0% abv)
2007 Cantina Tollo Pecorino, IGT Terre di Chieti (Abruzzo, Italy): OK, I have never heard of either Cantina Tollo nor Pecorino before. OK, I’ve heard of Pecorino cheese, but Pecorino grapes??? According to Cantina Tollo’s website, this wine is produced from 100 percent Pecorino grapes, fermented in stainless steel and aged sur lie in stainless for approximately six months prior to bottling. Light straw gold in color, clear and clean; nice peach and minerality in the nose, but well-rounded and fleshy on the palate, with a moderately long, tasty finish. Very fine indeed – quite delicious! Cheers,
Jason
