Weck or other wide mouth canning jars

rainey Dec 28, 2008 06:26 PM

I am looking for a source for the Weck 1/5 pint "mold" shape canning jars and other Weck supplies in the Los Angeles area.

Failing that, I'd settle for the Kerr 1/2 pint wide mouth, no neck canning jars.

San Fernando Valley area preferred but I'd drive to get them.

Thanks in advance for all leads on them!

The Walmart in Torrance (just off the 405 at Normandie) had 4 oz jars. Not sure if they had wide-mouth. The selection was a bit haphazard, but seems to me they had a range of sizes from 4 oz. up to 64 (half gallon). Pint jars, narrow mouth were just $6.70 a dozen.

I bought some at Smart and Final over the summer.

Never seen Weck or 1/5 pint anywhere. 1/2 pint Kerr or Ball should be easy, Smart & FInal, or a good hardware store like Virgil's in Glendale.

Sur la Table and W-S used to carry Weck. That's how I fell in love with them.

You'd think that the Kerr or Ball should be easy to find but fewer and fewer stores are stocking them and the wide mouth/no neck jars are even harder to find. I will call Virgil's and see if they have them tho.

            Thanks for the suggestion.
