Jamon Iberico in Miami

lax2mia Dec 28, 2008 04:48 PM

For those looking for this Spanish delicacy at a "bargain" price, Costco in N. Miami Beach is selling 4 oz pre-sliced Iberico ham (from the black footed Spanish pigs) for $18.99 (that's $75 a pound which is actually a good discount off Latienda.com's $100 a pound). I have a feeling it's only going to be around for the holidays so I've stocked up (they expire in December 2009). Note this isn't jamon iberico de bellota, which is extraordinarily more expensive, but it's definitely a big step up from jamon serrano (and makes prosciutto taste like Oscar Meyer). An Xmas Eve box lasted less than 15 minutes so pace your guests (and yourself)!

i have found that Delicias de Espana at the corner of bird rd. and red rd. in coral gables, has not only a large selection of different types and levels of iberico ham, along with the jamon iberico de bellota for $127 lb. yes it is very EXPENSIVE, but personally once and a while for a special occasion its well worth it.
