Just curious to see if anyone knows of any good, proper pizza in DE, preferably from brick ovens? Ranking Grimaldi's under the Brooklyn Bridge as a 10 and Lombardi's as a 9.5, anything even qualify as an 8? Margarita's in Newark is on-par with decent east-village pizza (better than Famous Original Ray's, but not by a whole heckuva lot), as is Ciao's Trolley Sq. The rest I've had ranks with rubbish chain pizza (doughy, crap sauce, parsimonious and middling toppings).

It seems there's an awful lot of money in at least New Castle Co, this dearth of decent food options is nigh inexplicable! Or maybe it's all just old, bland, honky money...

We have had good pizza at Dileo's in Rehoboth and at Villa Sorrento in Lewes.
There is a pizza place I have seen featured on The Food Network and Fine Living (not in Delaware but just across the ferry) that I want to visit. It is called Jumbo's and they have a coal oven. It is on the Wildwood Boardwalk.

I had Louie's pizza yesterday for the first time. I really liked it. Louie's is on Rehoboth Avenue close to the boardwalk and is a hole-in-the-wall.

I feel ya. I'm at a loss for good food down here. Nothing good of foreign note. As for pizza, besides Margherita's and Ciao's, I think Tony's Cafe off of Paper Mill Rd. in Newark is great.

In Newport try Dom's pizza. Ex NY'er coworker rates it at least as good as Ciao. It's in Newport Plaza shopping center, the little strip across from the 7-11.

I'll second Dom's Pizza. We tried and tossed many of the local places before finding them. They also do a mean white broccoli pizza that you can get by the slice.
this may sound weird, but their pizza is awesome "next day toaster oven" pizza. We always order more than we can eat so we can reheat for the next day or two.
