Imperial Pub-poutine

A bartender at the monarch tavern recommended this place for poutine.

Well I checked out this place yesterday (Dundas and Victoria, near the toronto life complex) and though it's bit of dive, I found the poutine to be quite decent! A big basket of fresh cut fries-those these have cut a bit thicker to my liking-topped off with a nicely spiced gravy and (yes!) real and squeaky cheese curds. They also have variations of poutine like nacho poutine, chili poutine and meat sauce poutine.

It's can also be quiet place to grab a beer.

Hmm, according to their website they have 4 or 5 different kinds of poutine. Seems poutine is the new tapas, or something. Funny, I remember going here about 10 years ago when I was at Ryerson and they had no food at all: we got munchies and the bartender suggested we order a pizza for delivery. So we did. But maybe that was just the upstairs part (The Library).

i use to work around the corner from the I.P. and have spent many a night there...never ate anything other than bagged chips....i think of the place as a legion where no one actually joined the service. a great place to have a beer and ponder life.
