Brown Water from my Whisk

While using a whisk attachment on my immersion blender to whip some egg whites, a brown substance - colored like vanilla extract - started to drip out. What is it and how do I fix it?

If you washed it in the dishwasher, water got forced up into the area it dripped from and it then dripped out - I have done that myself on many an occasion and now I am careful to move it around a bit to get the water out in advance (before it is over whatever I am making).

Sounds like the oil that lubricates the innards is leaking out. Your immersion blender might be on its last legs.
