Table 31 vs. Butcher and Singer?

Still looking for hip place with good food for friends. Which of these 2 has more of a scene/feel? Better food?

    1. You will probably find more of a scene at Butcher and Singer as Table 31 caters to an older bunch, but Table 31 gets far better food reviews. Table 31 also will set you back a pretty penny and that is always something to keep in mind.

I disagree. Table 31's dinner crowd seemed to be a younger, genuine good-time crowd, where as Butcher and Singer seemed to be the "old money" crowd. Service was good but stuffy. The food was ok. Everyone in my group enjoyed their dinner but my lamb chops were way overcooked. Nothing to rave about. At Table 31 the lunch crowd seemed older and more corporate, but they had a much bigger bar and lounge area. Their menu was much more diversified with lots of seafood and even homemade pasta items. Steak and wine seemed to be priced similar to Butcher and Singer, but the option for seafood or pasta can really help with the bill.

          • Butcher and Singer has more of a scene/feel, it's kind of old-timey but better than Table 31, which is very sterile in the dining room (less so in the bar). I wouldn't describe either one as hip, though. Table 31's food is better, but neither place is good enough to warrant the prices they're charging. Both places are very expensive, Table 31 is a little more expensive on average but their menu is more interesting and they offer their steaks in varying sizes, so if you'd rather spend a little less for a smaller steak, you can.

I still think Distrito is the place you're looking for.
