New Rochelle Saturday- taking 90 yo and 7 yo

out to dinner. Typically in the past when we visited my uncle for lunch or dinner we went to the recently closed Thruway diner (his choice). They recently took him to another nearby diner and my parents hated it. We are taking him out this Saturday for early dinner and need recommendation of a non ethnic restaurant (no mexican, thai, indian) in New Rochelle. Italian would probably be okay. The place should be quiet but also able to accomodate a 7-1/2 yo boy who is generally quite well behaved in restaurants but still only 7 and a boy so not fancy or stuffy. Any ideas?

Mamma Francesca's. Nothing else in New Rochelle comes close for moderate red sauce Italian.

Modern Pizzeria.......not your typical pizzeria........they also have your traditional Italian fare that is pretty good.......not fancy, not stuffy.......relaxed and decent service as well

rolise, take a look inside Modern before you decide. It's not comfortable for a group, I don't think they don't have a full bar, and the individual pizzas at Mamma Francesca are as good as those at Modern. Oh, and Modern's entrees leave a lot to be desired.

I've sat in the front room with a group of 10 before and we were more than comfortable.........not sure about them having a full bar.........but definitely beer and vino...
