Great, unexpected Chowgift
I just received a truly fitting, absolutely surprising gift--the book With A Jug of Wine, printed in 1971, complete with post-its highlighting the gift-giver's favorite recipes.

Some years back, we received a 10 lb. block of Stilton. It was wonderful, but it was too much of a good thing. After working to use it up (and we tried), we finally had to toss far, far too much of a great cheese.
Not quite the same thing as your Chowgift, but great and unexpected.
