NYE in MSP

Hi,

I will be in Minneapolis for New Years Eve - going to a show at the Hexagon or the Varsity Theater later in the evening but looking for a great meal beforehand --we have eaten at and loved 112 eatery, but looking to try something new. In the running is Spoonriver or Barrio (although the price fixe isn't super appealing). There will be 8 of us - and we'd like good food, drinks, but on the affordable side and hopefully not a crazy scene. I know this is sort of late notice, but figured a few suggestions might point us in the right direction!

Thanks!

Piling on... Saffron has a special NYE menu (5 course, $65), according to Open Table. It's an extra $25 per if you want wine pairings. And a vegetarian option is available. The description on Open Table says groups are welcome.

Somewhat nearby is Sapor, also doing a NYE menu (4 course, $60). $30 more per if you want wine. Meat, fish, a veggie options available for each of the four courses.

Consider Saffron, right across the street from 112. Fantastic food, and if they have the beef tartare with browned truffle butter, order as many as you can handle.

I also like Saffron. Of the two places you mentioned, Barrio is superior to Spoonriver and a lot more fun. With a party of eight, though, you might just end up with whatever place can still give you a reservation.
