Breakfast near 4th and Market?

Hello,

I'm traveling to San Francisco for the first time, staying at 4th and Market streets. I seek a place to have breakfast (out of the hotel) that is very close, very cheap, very good, and ideally very quick. Not looking for fancy, not looking for a unique experience (although I welcome those if they arise), just good, cheap American food. Eggs, yogurt, granola, orange juice, that's about it.

I could walk a few minutes, I could take a bus a few minutes, but I would like it to be readily accessible.

Thanks very much in advance.

Downtown right? Well head over to Specialty's for a cinnamon bun (or other sweet treat) to start your day. They also have granola yogurt cups that are great.

Mel's and Speciality's both have a mass-produced feel to me. Alternatives near 4th and Market include Cafe Madeleine on O'Farrell, Sellers Market on Market near 3rd (just opened), and La Boulange on Market just past 3rd. All are a little pricier than Mel's or Specialty's but considerably higher quality and a much better value than most hotel breakfasts.
