Looking for any suggestions for someone who can make a great looking and tasting birthday cake. I have seen a few recommendations on the board for BakeShopdc. Preferably baker would be located in DC but if not has delivery options. Thanks!

I've always had raves when I get cakes from Pastries by Randolph. Not in the city, but an easy cab ride.

3rd very highly, everyone talks about the Heidelburg bakery which is good, but Randolph's is better IMO.

How about birthday cupcakes from Georgetown cupcakes?

Cakes by Happy Eatery, Shilla, CakeLove, Couture Cupcakes?
        Any of these sound good?

I would not recommend CakeLove (at least the DC and MD branches). Disliked what I had there and there are lots of posts about it on the board.

did you have cakes or cupcakes? (i second the hatred of the cupcake, but the tarts are good!)

Nobody around here recommends Cakelove. Shilla's is Korean and has a Korean accent. I find their cakes to be rather dry.
