Anybody been to the new Calories?

I went there a few weeks ago after the reopening. Is it me or the new place isn't as good as before? It's not as cozy as before (I liked it before with the old school and dark lighting), feels like some mega franchise took over. The waitresses were totally clueless about the menu. Plus (please somebody confirm this!) I think they don't serve the St-Honore cake anymore (it is by FAR my favorite place!). Sigh seems like any restaurant that goes for renovation always turns out bad. There goes my fav dessert place in downtown!

  1. Is it in the same spot on Ste-Catherine in Westmount, or has it moved?

Same spot. Went there briefly, after their re-opening(under new management I think). It seems to me, they don't make their own desserts anymore(using a commercial supplier).

Did they ever make their own cakes? They used to buy several of their popular ones from my cousin.

Going only from memory(I thought they might of made their own cakes).

did they buy the St-Honore cake from your cousin? It's one of their most popular one because i remember they don't always have it when i'm there

      2. I am with you 100% - went there the day after the "Grand Reopening" and thought to myself - hmmm, all you did was make this place unattractive. Cake display looks the same, menu the same - I loved the old wood and the cosy feel of the place. I don't think they ever made their own cakes. Many of them have the same names as Delice de Dawn cakes.

PS: I left without buying anything that day - just wasn't inspired.

We went there a couple of weeks ago and although the place was packed, the food we ordered was not fresh, although we were warned about that. Expensive and disappointing. I won't go back.

        2. Just saw a ad in this weeks Gazette putting Calories up for sale. That maybe explains the downslide

oh wow... but the quality already went downhill when they reopened.. i guess things just got worst until they decided to sell the place...

i hope the new owners (if anybody will buy it) will reamp it to its old charm
