I've been twice so far - it is packed - always seems to be a wait. I waited for over an hour last night for a table and it wasn't during a traditional dinner time - we got sat shortly before 10pm. The service is a little spotty - but since they just opened, I think that will probably improve with time. All restaurants have some kinks when first opening. I think the food is pretty good and the atmosphere is nice. All in all, I am excited to have a Wood N Tap east of the river and a short distance from my house.

To foodieface thanks for the post, I am also looking forward to trying it some night. Sounds like it might be a better option to try some night during the week. As to (shabones) it is only a short distance off the highway in Vernon. Its easy on and off in either direction your going. Its probably only an 1/8 mile in either direction. Hope this helps Earle Ct.

The original location in Hartford is also 30 seconds off the Sisson Ave exit off I-84 in Hartford

Wood'n Tap is nothing more than your typical chain. (Tuesdays, Fridays etc.)I've been to the southington one a few times because of the convenient location but the service and food are nothing better than mediocre. Their ribs are not worth ordering. Tasteless meat with an rather poor tomato sauce slathered on after they have been microwaved.

I have to agree with Scargoe...Wood N Tap isn't anything special. I would give it an edge over TGIFridays and 99, but only a slight edge. Having had to eat there at several locations on many occasions due to my work, I can tell you the food is consistently mediocre.

Curious if you have tried Utsav, the new Indian restaurant located in the former Taj Mahal spot on Route 30. Great food and reasonable prices. We like the lunch buffet, also.

Just wondering if you have tried Utsav, the relatively new Indian restaurant located in Vernon on Route 30, in the spot formerly occupied by Taj Mahal. Great food, including a nice lunch buffet where they bring sizzling Tandoori chicken and fresh naan to your table.

Reply to howabouththat, thanks for the update, I'm not a liker of Indian food. But I do appreciate the thought. I was looking at the Wood and Tap as a nice place to have a cold beer or glass of wine that wasn't out of site cost wise and may be a light snack some night. I have viewed there menu on line and it doesn't seem to bad price wise. Drink prices weren't given. I have tried Shays in Manchester ,near Kohl's but found there food prices a little high for what is offered. I guess 3 dollar bottles of beer are average in the area. Nice outside bar in the summer thou.. Earle Ct.

Wood N Tap used to be good, great burgers. Then the service went down the tubes. I've tried the one in Farmington, Hartford and one other. Always bad service, huge waits, waited 30 minutes to get my credit card back from the server one night. Ustav is good, but in my opinion Taj was better.

Not sure, exactly what you meant about bottle beer, at 4:25 and up! But as far as I'm concerned a bottle of bud or miller lite or bud light at 4:25 a bottle in a local bar is a little over priced, So as I said I'm not sure what your post was all about.. Earle
