Baraka Cafe Tonight- BYOB and Recommendations?

SaraASR Dec 22, 2008 11:40 AM

Hey All- Headed to Baraka Cafe tonight. Have heard conflicting reports as to whether it's still BYOB or not. Anyone have a definite answer? Also, any particular "stand-out" dishes? Thank you!

I haven't been lately but I'm pretty certain they do not allow BYOB for religious reasons. The owner is a strict Muslim. We grabbed drinks first in Central Sq. They do have a very good rose petal lemonade.

Dishes I recall were an eggplant app and a Merhuez sausage. Mains were a feta stuffed eggplant and lamb chops. We also had the Bastille Torta which requires 2 or 3 days advance notice.

    Nice friendly little restaurant.

There is an unambiguous sign on the door that says no alcohol. It has never been BYOB.

I don't think it's BYOB. Rose petal lemonade is really good. We like to go there for lunch so I don't know how the dinner menu compares. The eggplant app. was quite good and the most memorable. Their sandwiches are tasty... a bit on the dry side though. I don't think there has been anything on the menu that I didn't like.
