Pre-Christmas dinner nibbles?

The family (all adults, all foodies) is meeting at my house before we head off to a very nice restaurant for a big Christmas dinner. Dinner is not till 8 pm. I feel like I should offer something to munch on and some wine while we're sitting around waiting. Then again, dinner will be big. Any ideas?

Hi, what time are you meeting--i.e. I wonder how long you wil be at your house until you go out. In any case here are some light ideas to go with wine or other drinks.
--cheese sticks--the twisty flaky crusty kind--I love them with red wine and you don't have the heaviness of cheese
    --mixed olives
--mixed nuts, maybe seasoned with curry or cinnamon
--pretzels--less likely to overindulge on them than potato chips
--very simple cheese platter: a small wheel of brie and Carr's water crackers with a bunch of grapes
    --a bowl of clementines
--simple crudite: grape tomatoes, sugar snap peas, baby carrots
--if there are kids: gold fish crackers, small bowl of xmas MnMs
