Udon soup in Orange County

JBinOC Dec 21, 2008 07:10 AM

In case you haven't noticed, it's been raw outside in the evening...
and several times recently I've enjoyed a heaping bowl of udon noodle soup at Sanuki Sandou, the excellent vendor adjacent to the "Hello Kitty" kitsch store in the Mitsuwa food court in Costa Mesa.

Am wondering if anyone has any other recommendations for udon soup in OC.

I like the place inside Mitsuwa's food court too. You might also try Sagami in Irvine.

Just came back from Murasaki and enjoyed a very good bowl of tempura udon. The udon was chewy, served with 2 types of seaweed, and the broth was clean and not too sweet. I've mentioned this previously, but the only fault is that the tempura is a bit oily and heavy.

Fukada in Irvine has a great traditional udon with japanese vegetables.

I like the version at Maki Zushi in Tustin.

I've seen loads of happy folks eating this too. But, how can you get this and not the santouka ramen? tell me what i'm missing here.
