Cooking Classes in CA

Hey all. I'm from the East, but I'll be out in CA on a north to south tour (SD to LA to Avila Beach to SF to Napa) in late April and early May. My girlfriend really wants to do a cooking class with dinner while out there and I would like to set something up for her as a present.

I am looking for something smaller (2-10 people), one time, and hands on. Doesn't really matter which part of CA it is in. Ideal, it would be something small in a restaurant with just the two of us or a few other people with a chef where we could either cook our own food for dinner or have a hands on lesson then be able to sit for dinner (my dream would be to find a restaurant or chef that would be willing to let the two of us come back into the kitchen, help us cook something, then let us eat it). I'm very flexible though. If anyone knows of something like this, or can recommend a site/group that does good hands on cooking lessons, I'd greatly appreciate hearing out it.

Thanks all!

I've done classes here a few times. They're usually kept to a small group, and I've enjoyed everyone I've been to.

Great News, in Pacific Beach, offers a wide array of cooking classes in its large demo kitchen. This place is also a discount store selling all the top brands of cookware and small appliances. They have a great Friday Night Dinner series which is very hands on and a lot of fun.

In April alone, Hugh Carpenter, Alice Medrich (Cocolat) and Paula Wolfert are teaching and as of right now, and their classes have openings.

Talk about a perfect end to a dream trip!

The Supper Club in Sacramento has cooking classes that are small and intimate. The chef is Matt Woolston and his wife Yvette also helps to run the place.

Not cheap, and don't know if dates would work, but if it did this would be special...
