A Big Hit A Big Miss in Stamford/Greenwich

Should have consulted boards but went on rec of concierge at Hyatt for steak to Bennetts ugh...Forget what I started with and had ribeye that was all fat and little flavor ( which is a trick in itself) Just bad and there was a terrible odor of sewage sorts emanating by the front door...as JFood says DOA. But more than made up for with seat at the bar at Morello. Outstanding in every way. Started with baked clams . 5 small sweet clams baked under a blanket if uber butter bread crumbs sprinkled with bacon. Then the veal chop that was mammoth, tender, seared and cooked perfectly. It was served in cast iron skillet with artichokes and peppers. And to do maximum damage I had side of the olive oil mashed potatoes. Robuchonesque A couple of glasses of Italian red and I was a very hapy traveler . This is on my repeat at all costs list although with 1 cocktail, app, entree , 2 glasses of wine the bill was $84. pre tip which I think is more than reasonable for the quality. Service at bar ( Danny) was terrific...wish it were in Boston.

My experience at Bennett's was terribad.

Sadly, and I know that this might be sacriledge to some of the more refined foodies here; but when I want a steak and I'm not going to cook it myself, I usually go to Outback.

Jafood is glad you had a good meal in his neck of the woods.

There is no such thing as a good steak house in this area (jfood has not been to the stm capital grille yet) and for a good steak you need to go to one of the area's better restaurants that have steak on the menu.

safe travels back to beantown. little jfood visiting your town this weekend.

Thanks CA. She is visiting her college buddy who is in Med School up there and they normally go to a Sushi place near her apartment. Then they tease the Bean-boys at the local watering holes. They are both lookers.

Happy Holidays and get ready for another "wicked stahm". Jfood loves Boston.
