Without sounding too condescending, these are stellar restaurants for Glendale. Cinnabar has a hip and happening vibe and Far Niente is of the more old fashioned continental school, the kind of fancy restaurants we remember from the 1960s. Both should do a fine meal but neither are really white knuckle fantastic. Cinnebar does very nice cocktails if that's a selling point.

For a very nice lunch or dinner try the new spot in N. Glendale/Montrose, Bistro Verdu, before the word gets out. A great cal-french menu with reasonable prices, still byob

They're trying. Not the same old, same old. We were impressed with the pork loin with walnut bread pudding and sauted greens. No corkage! This restaurant needs nurturing clients. They're on to something.

Unless you really are interested in "Continental elegance" circa 1965, I think Cinnabar has much more "bang per buck", food-wise.

Two Italian restaurants I recall in Glendale, one on auto row, both superior to Cinnabar where I did go for lunch (hours may have changed) and while I admired the bar, was repelled by the food (fusion, badly executed) and vowed never to return. As some one else posted, the Italians are old school. The one on auto row has carpaccio, caesar (WITH anchovies) and often sweetbreads. I regard this as an asset. Not sure there is any 'wow' in Glendale though.

I had dinner once at Cinnabar. Overall, it was pretty good, until factoring in the prices, when it became a poor value, so I haven't returned.

It was a long time ago, but I do remember I ordered an app. that had been recommended on the net, possibly here. It was good, but not worth the price. I believe I felt the same way about the entree. The drinks were interesting, elaborate & old school, but also overpriced. Finally, I found the place quite claustrophobic, despite the fact it was largely empty when we went. Overall, Cinnabar's ok, but there's no reason for me to go back...there are cheaper & better places three offramps in either direction, or a quick trip down Los Feliz Blvd.

Glendale is not a "wow" marketplace. Fresco at 514 S. Brand, Far Niente, Gennaro, Cinnabar, etc. are the high priced places in town, yet none are overly current. For "wow", get out to Pasadena, downtown LA, or points further away.
