Egg Nog Ice Cream Anyone?

  • 6

A totally low-brow request here. I'm missing the secret ingredient for my nog. I like to put in a dollop of egg nog ice cream. Sort of the ice in the glass, if you will.

Haven't found it in any markets around me yet, but admittedly haven't tried super hard either. If anyone knows a store that carries it I'd be willing to sing them a carol or two (after consuming the nog of course).

Preferably a store between West Hollywood and Downtown but for egg nog ice cream I will travel...

New since this thread: Bennett's has it as a special (as of last night, at least).

It might also be worth checking with Scoops.

I was the one who started the other thread listed above. I didn't find the Haagen Daz, but I did discover McConnell's Egg Nog ice cream at Gelson's. It's not bad, but I prefer Baskin Robins. I also found the Dryers Egg Nog ice cream, but I didn't care for the consistency--I like my ice cream richer than Dryers.

        2. The easy way is to buy some AltaDena or whatever you like and pour it in an ice cream freezer. Egg nog *is* an ice cream base!

For best results you should do it a day ahead so it has a chance to freeze but if you're adding it to liquid egg nog you could impress your guests by scooping it directly from the running ice cream freezer and the consistency might be perfect for drinking.

          1. Al Gelato on Robertson has it--excellent too.
