French bistro near Theatre District?

emiliewasmyeve Dec 18, 2008 02:56 PM

We're looking for a good French bistro near the Goodman Theatre. We're willing to take a cab if we need to. We'd like somewhere we could eat early... like 5:30ish. Also, I'd prefer to be able to wear nice jeans. Is there somewhere that is more trendy than fancy but still has good eats?

Edited: I have reservations at Farmerie 58 but haven't heard good things.

The Goodman Theatre is at 170 North Dearborn, between Randolph and Lake. Brasserie Jo is an excellent French bistro, and is exactly what you're looking for. It's casual (jeans are fine!). It's located at 59 West Hubbard, between Dearborn and Clark; Hubbard is three blocks north of Lake, so it's only about four blocks walk from the theater. (You'll cross over the river when walking between the two on Dearborn.) www.brasseriejo.com
