"A mouse douche"

This was the misprint version of "amuse bouche" in a newspaper restaurant review read by Jay Leno the other night. It didn't seem as though he comprehended what the line was supposed to read, and I suspect many a viewer didn't understand why a fine restaurant would serve mouse (on purpose, anyway - we may all have eaten soup from a pot containing a drowned Mickey!)

While that certainly was the most humorous of the MANY spelling errors on the writer's part
        here are some others:

        Grant Schantz's Alina
        Joel Cabochon
        Gaynor awards (s/b GAYOT)

This article is titled "The Excellence of Chef Mavro" (George Mavrothalassitis of Hawaii. He
is one of the founding 12 chefs of Hawaii Regional Cuisine. He had just received the AAA
5 Diamond Award which presumably this article meant to focus upon.

The online version was corrected but the print version went to thousands and thousands of homes on Oahu the week of 12/3. I'm amazed at the speed with which is was mailed to and read on Leno, you'd think he'd get thousands of submissions daily. I wonder how that one
        caught their eye.
This is the link, select Headlines and you will eventually hear the story it's near the end. If this doesn't work just go to Jay Leno Show and select 12/15 Monday to get things rolling.

Just a quick comment to add that the Leno airing of "mouse douche" (what a bizarre visual, no??) implied somehow that the restaurant was responsible for the error as he kept mentioning Chef Mavro as he searched for the correct pronunciation. A chef friend who saw it was livid on behalf of Chef Mavro. I realize time constraints on the show. Nonetheless it would have been nice if the guilty party had been identified!

      2. that's hysterical. thanks.
