Orrery (London)

Had a great lunch at Orrery yesterday (thanks for the recommedation from last week). Started with a delcious Autumnal Truffle Risotto then Partridge Crown with Raviolo, liver parfait on toast with prunes and armangac - perfectly cooked partridge, although the raviolo was a little bland (and had some shot still in so not great for the fillings but I suppose that's part of the fun of eating a game bird). Cheese for dessert from their amazing cheese trolley. My colleagues had the Beef Rossini which they are still talking about today so must have been good.
Service was outstanding, particularly the sommelier whose wine recommendations (Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc from NZ and a Spanish red - cant remember the name but I have the cork somewhere in my handbag) really made the meal (and my hangover today). Would definitely go back (if someone else is paying - it's not cheap!)

If this was a client lunch, then I think it might have been my rec. So pleased to hear it's still on song - it used to be our favourite birthday celebration spot. The cheese trolley was always a winner, and the service some of the best in town. It was always expensive (though it used to do a really good value Sunday lunch), but we always found it delivered on its promise, which is more than can be said for many other fine dining places.
