Great Place for Christmas Desserts?

Hey all just looking for some great bakeries that are doing something different for Christmas. It is always my job to provide the desserts for the holidays and I went for Thanksgiving to Bouchon Bakery for their bourbon choc pecan pie and it was awesome. I usually go to Financier because I work downtown, however lately I have been in Midtown more often. I would prefer a place closer to midtown 9i'm at 55th and 7th). I was considering seeing what Bouchon is offering for Christmas. Probably a Buche de Noel. I am also considering maybe trying Payard( although its really expensive) or maybe just doing some traditional Italian pastries from Veniero's, Ferrara's, or Rocco's. Any recs?

Lady M has some fanastic desserts, but it too is way too expensive. It's not in midtown, but why not try the new Momouku bakery?

My mom ordered the Milles Crepes cake one year for X-mas (mailorder to VA), and it was a huge hit. It's been a while since I've been.

It's not near you in midtown, but Balthazar has quite a few seasonal desserts. I tasted the croquembouche the other night- profiteroles with caramel glazed over. Quite good, especially the caramel-definitely tasted freshly made!
