Help me find a restaurant that meets this (random) criteria

spkspk Dec 17, 2008 10:46 AM

This is for a friend's birthday lunch.

First and foremost, the restaurant MUST have strawberry lemonade. The kind with made with actual strawberries slices in the drink, not the kind only made with syrup. My friend (who moved here from France a few years ago) just recently had strawberry lemonade for the first time in her life at some random restaurant out of state and is OBSESSED with it... Finding a restaurant that serves this type of lemonade would be a present to her in of itself.

Not too pricey - maybe around $15 an entree. Again, this is for a birthday lunch, so a place that has a reasonably nice atmoshpere would be great.

The restaurant must be within reasonable driving distance from Boyle Heights - e.g. Pasadena, Alhambra, downtown LA, Silver Lake, etc.

Any suggestions?

There's a place on Beverly called Lemonade. I haven't been, but a friend of mine loves it. They do a few different kinds of fresh lemonade (along with gourmet salads and sandwiches), you might call and see if they offer one in that style. http://www.lemonadela.com

Something else you might look into. There's a delicious drink called Ensalada that I've had at various El Salvadorian places. Ensalada is generally pineapple juice (I think), with bits of all kinds of fruit floating in it, not exactly what you're looking for, but maybe something along the same line would be equally impressive. The last place I had a good one, was at Jaragua (also on Beverly, near Ktown). That said, the food there is not nearly as good as Atlacatl (just down the street), but I I've never had the Ensalada at Atlacatl -- although, I'd think it's safe to say that if they have it, it will be great.

i was also going to suggest Lemonade Cafe...and they have a downtown location (515 S. Flower Street) which would satisfy the geographic requirement. info is on the web site in the link provided by debra.

I think that the cheescake factory has strawberry lemonade as well.

If I'm not mistaken, the Blue Dahlia downtown serves a fresh strawberry lemonade that you can see from the counter, and their entrees are rather cheap.

You may want to check with Auntie Em's kitchen. I've heard they've done this.

I've had something like a strawberry lemonade (or limeade) with brunch at the original La Serenata de Garibaldi in Boyle Heights. It was delicious, and the food is great, also, as everyone knows. I'd call first to be sure the strawberry drink is still on the menu.

Totally not fancy but Red Robin's does have strawberry lemonade...with unlimited refills. And the entrees are around $15...or less!
