Nice Deal - Grant's West Hartford

Six of us went to Grant's Saturday night. Being seated a half hour after our 7:30 reservation was irritating (lingering diners), but when we were treated to a round of drinks on the house, all was pretty much forgiven.

They are running a special $28 prix fixe holiday menu (not sure when it ends). I had the salad as a first course, I don't remember the other choice for a starter, we all had the salad which was excellent. Main course choices were trout, scallops, or lamb shank. I had the lamb which was delicious. Among us we covered all three choices, and everyone was very pleased. Desserts (not my passion) were, I think, cheesecake or apple crisp.

Grant's has been my favorite restaurant in West Hartford center for a long time. It was great to have a wonderful meal there at such relatively reasonable prices. I hope you get a chance to check it out!

  1. Thanks j. Our friends have been recommending Grant's to us for awhile. This may get us there soon.

    1. Not such a great evening for our party of 15. After ordering drinks they took 25 min. to bring them out. This was after I went to find our waitress. We were told not to go up to the bar but to let our waitress serve us. I think there should have been at least two waiters on the table since it was a large party. The service was terrible. I believe the girl was overwhelmed with such a big party. We arrived at 7:30 and left at 12:30 since our bill was a disaster. We waited over an hour for the waitress and manager to fix it. The manager didn't even apologize. The food was very good and the drinks were made well but very bad service!

      1. Interesting posts. I have been to Grants-which has been one of my favorite restaurants in West Hartford Center 3 times in the last two weeks. Each time we have been kept waiting for at least 20 minutes later than our reservation time. This absolutely infuriates me. Also, Grants has a policy, disclosed to me inadvertently by one of the hostess, of always trying to seat parties at their least desirable pages first. The third time I was kept waiting, I went off on the hostess Kathy, who was at the desk the 2 other times. Grants food is still very good. The front of the house is falling on their face on needs some work. I wonder if Billy or any of his staff reads this board. Get it together please.
