I have burnt tomato sauce crusted all through my le creuset enamel over cast iron pot. I can't beleive I let that happn, last Thanksgiving I burnt cranberry sauce in another le creuset pot and I completely wore off the enamel trying to clean it off - it was completely destroyed. Any suggestions on how to avoid destroying yet another pot?

I did the same thing last week. Do you have any Oxyclean? Or other powdered detergent? I used about half a cup, and a couple of cups of water. Let it soak overnight. It dislodged the burnt bits and most of it lifted easily when sprayed with hot water. Minimal scrubbing was required to remove the remainder.

You should use lower heat with a Le Creuset, and Bon Ami or Bar Keeper's Friend should be used (IMO) because it will be more gentle on the enamel. As others suggested, soak it over night, gently remove what you can afterwards then use a mild abrasive to remove the rest.

le creuset needs to be used on a lower heat than you think......

I have found that the following works without harming the pot: dump a bunch (enough to thickly cover the bottom of the pot) of baking soda into the pot, add enough water to almost cover the baking soda, put the pot over medium heat and scrub with any sort of scubby thing that is safe for a non-stick pan. I scrub while the pot is on the heat. This has worked quite well for me. For a tough case you may have to do it several times. Good luck!

I agree; the thick baking soda and water mix, simmer method has worked well for me. Sometimes I squirt in some dishwashing liquid as well. You can scrape at it while it's simmering with a wooden spoon too.

Well, there is a special LC product intended to clean their pots. I've used it and it really has cleaned them up nicely. You might want to try that.
