saturday night solo dining- not overly expensive

I'll be traveling and will be alone for dinner on a Saturday night.
Where can I go (either seafood or steaks) for a good NO experience and not spend too much ($50) with drinks. Sitting at the bar is fine too.

best bar dining seats are at Luke, Patois, Clancy's, One Riverbend.
or you could go to Rambla and sit at one of the community tables.

Sit at one of the small window tables by the bar at Herbsaint. Emeril's also has a food (viewing) bar and the food there lately has been excellent. If you are considering One, go to restaurant.com You can purchase a $25 gift certificate for $10.

I second the suggestion for One. It's fantastic and it's really neat being able to sit at the bar and watch the cooking and plating!

Dined solo last month at Olivier's and found it to be a better than expected experience. Arrived slightly ahead of the typical dinner time (6:30) and was offered a table at the front window facing Decatur Street, perfect for watching people walking into the Quarter. The staff was properly attentive and allowed me to set the pace for the meal. Didn't feel rushed nor neglected at any point. The owner walked in shortly after 7 p.m. and spent a couple of minutes in pleasant conversation. I can't recommend the gumbo trio appetizer enough.
