Morello Bistro in Greenwich Review

  • 0

The wife and I had a lovely meal in Grenwich this weekend. We had a GC to GAIA only to find out that as of December 1, GAIA is no more....instead this beautiful space is now occupied by Morello Bistro. Same owners new chef.

Here is a quick review. The space of course is still beautiful....kind reminds me of Bowfinger in Paris in that is spacious but classy and comfortable. Kinda looks like an old railway station.

Service was excellent throughout the meal, which is rare for a new restaurant. Solid wine list, with some affordable french and italian bottles. Now to the food:

Started with the Charceuterie and bakes clams. The cured meats where very fresh and tasty but an at exceptional selection and the baked clams where moist and delicious...but also, not out of this world...solid!

Pasta course, we shared the homemade gnocci with wild mushrooms and panchetta. This dish was very rich and delicious but the panchetta was a little to underwhelming. I was hoping for a smokey bacon taste but it was mostly mushrooms...still perfect Gnocci and delicuous not too heavy sauce.

Entree where EXCELLENT. I had the cod which was perfectly cooked...and i mean to the second!! she had the Lamb which was also perfect. Neither dish blew our minds but for the sub $30 prices they where cooked tio perfection.

The deserts where absolutely excellent. Chocolate Fondant cake is essentially a perfect lava cake and the Tiramisu is how it should be!

All in all it was a very nice meal. Considering the place isnt overly expensive i think the food is a nice quality for the money. Definitly recommend this place for a yummy, slightly refined but casual meal!

Enjoy.
