Louie's in Cos Cob
Italian spot in the old Augie's/Bulldog's spot on River Road in Cos Cob. Same ownership as Polpo's with a few of the old staff over here now.
Food - Generally fine, there was certainly nothing wrong with any of it except the overcooked cheesecake at dessert. Spaghetti bolognese was good, lasagna fair, fried zucchini/carrots were good, cesar salad ok. But prices were closer to Polpo (overpriced) than a typical neighborhood italian. I'd say 20% cheaper than Polpo but still way off the mark for the quality. Tab for the 5 of us was $190, and that was with limited first courses and drinks.
Service - Fair. Not as bad as Polpo, but this place was half empty. If they had the crowds like Polpo, service would definitely suffer. A couple of real annoyances: They installed valet parking at a locale that did just fine without it for years and they added a coat attendant. These are fine for a more formal setting but if they're trying to make this place more of a neighborhood/family spot this stuff sends the wrong message.
All in all I wouldn't go back. Not with better quality and value so close by.
