Ristorante Saporissimo
After reading the reviews here of Ristorante Saporissimo, I'm thinking my DH and I might try it for New Years' Eve. We will be staying at the Boca Resort and want to go somewhere close by (walking distance), we want really good food and a nice atmosphere. We were going to dine at Cielo at the BR, but didn't really want to spend $500 per couple. Is Saporissimo nice- nice enough for a special occasion? also, we are in our late 30s-- is the age group generally mixed or mostly an older crowd? Any info you can provide is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My favorite restaurant in the Boca area, especially for special occasions, is Saporissimo. "Cozy" is a good description of the atmosphere. Certainly any of the restaurants at the Resort will have a more upscale decor but Saporissimo is all about the wonderful Tuscan-style food and the rather unique style of service. Both are provided by the owners, Ana Maria (the Chef) and her husband Giancarlo who will walk you through the menu and specials in his own unique way.
The crowd on most nights is a mix of people from late-20's to retirees. Many nights you'll also encounter Italian tourists and expats as well.
A couple of months ago I had the opportunity to recommend Saporissimo to Raboi when he was looking for a special place for his birthday (http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/563298) He had a great time and wrote this review: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/564844

re: RickL
And its has been great ever since. The last evening there last month was most significant for sauteed shrimp with gorganzola in a parmesan cup for me and octopus salad for the wife. Both outstanding. Had Pheasant for an Entree. Polishedt the evening off with about 4 shots of complimentary limoncello. We may see you there on New Years!
