Looking for Brunch/Lunch option walking distance 55th &6th

I am looking for some good options for brunch/lunch before we go to the ballet at the City Center on 55th btw 6th & 7th. Three of us, not too concerned price wise- but always want a good meal for what we pay. My mother can't handle any places too exotic- so please leave suggestions for nearby curry houses, etc out.

La Bonne Soupe--it's right on 55th near 6th. I was there for brunch this past weekend. It's good for the French cafe standards and has a cozy atmosphere that's nice this time of year.

Two fancier (and pricer) options are Brasserie 8 1/2 downstairs at 9 West 57th, bet 5th & 6th, or Petrossian on the SE corner of 58th & 7th. Brasserie 8 1/2 is a large buffet with omelets made to order.
