Ric Orlando returns to Albany

meg944 Dec 15, 2008 09:45 AM

FYI, for the folks who fondly remember Ric Orlando from his time at Justin's or who currently enjoy the food at New World Home Cooking, my understanding is that he will be opening up a new restaurant (Ric's Place?) near the Spectrum in the next few months.

Thanks, meg944. Spring 2009 in Albany is looking good - Dale Miller and now Ric Orlando (I have not experienced his cooking so I have something to look forward to). . .

Both are talented chefs and good people - I am looking forward to trying both places. From my short conversation with him, I got the impression that Ric's place (possibly named Ric's Place) will be more casual, so there should really be no competition. It sounds like a great choice for before or after a movie.

In the meantime, you might well enjoy New World in Saugerties - it would just be a quick detour on your way up or back to NYC. Like Creo, it's not for everyone, but we really enjoy it there.

Thanks for the heads up - we enjoy both Justins and NWHC, despite its controversies. Have had many happy Thanksgivings there! So we will welcome Ric back to the neighborhood happily.
Plus - Blackened Stringbeans within walking distance! Things are looking up.

We hope he will be doing some of his special events up here too.
