We'll be travelling on New Jersey 287 to Pennsylvania 80 and wondering if anyone knows about open restaurants along the way?

McCormick ^ Scmick's in the Bridgewater Commons (Bridgewater) is open on Christmas day, but you need reservations.

Wonder Seafood Restaurant, an authentic (rather than Americanized) Chinese restaurant, is open on Christmas--as are most Chinese restaurants. It is located at 1984 State Route 27
Edison, and their phone # is (732) 287-6328.

They are about 2 miles south of Rt. 287, on the east side of Rt. 27. They serve dim sum every day, as well as a diverse menu of seafood and meat dishes. However, if you are looking for "one from column A, one from column B", this is not the place for you.

If you are caucasian, you may be the only caucasians in the place, as it is very authentically Chinese. Menus are in English, as well as Chinese, and the staff speaks English.

Susan--I'm confident that you will enjoy it. Just two additional thoughts:

While I did have dim sum there on Christmas a couple of years ago, you never know how things may have changed--especially in this economy. Call ahead, just to confirm that they are open.

Also--about 2--2.5 miles further south on Rt. 27, in Highland Park, is The Seven Hills of Istanbul. It is a very good Turkish restaurant, and I did have lunch there last Christmas. But, then again, since we were one of the few tables occupied at that time, it is possible that they might decide to not open this Christmas. However, if you are a fan of Turkish food, as I am, this might give you another choice.
