spent the day with the fam yesterday in Old Town. Some highlights:
Epicurean same as ever, solidly good food, great new decor. They've updated their night time decor and the place looks great!
Tony de Luca has closed his place at the Oban and is concentrating on his "old winery" place (which was actually an old framing shop, v. annoying name) and the food is good. service leaves something to be desired....
SRG chugging along, as good as ever.
Pie Plate is the new best place to eat in town! Incredible sandwiches, soups, salads and of course pastries to die for. It's def the best place in town to eat at. And it's licensed.
Finally, Peller estates is offering an "ice wine" experience. For some couple hundred bucks you can do what the pickers do, plus have a meal and stay in a hotel. Can you say cooolllllddd?
All in all, it's a great day trip or weekend away. And it's in our backyard!
Has anyone tried the new Restaurant Oban Inn, under the direction of Chef Martin Warnick?
Curious to know how it measures up to the Tony De Luca, which, in my memory, was one of the most comfortable, attuned to detail, and unpretentiously delectable, not to mention most reasonably priced in the area...
