Has anybody tried Woods' On South?

I used to watch Marvin Woods' cooking program on Turner south and heard he opened a restaurant on South Blvd. in Charlotte. I am not usually one to go to a restaurant just because of the chef but because I live in the north and don't get southern comfort food except when I cook it and I love his take on it, I would love to try it. What do you all think about it? I will be in NC for christmas and would love to try it.
Thanks.

Woods' on South closed a while back. I never ate there, but the reviews from those who did weren't particularly good.

Yep, it's closed. I, too, have never eaten there but I didn't hear great things from those that had.

Chef Woods seemed to be a great guy. I think the reason they didn't last was the concept. I had a few meals there and it always seemed lacking. The concept was healthy southern food. The problem was the food was either southern but not all that healthy or healthy and not all that southern. Perhaps is it difficult to marry the two. You could taste and see that the Chef had some real chops and I hope we see and taste more of Chef Woods in another venue here in Charlotte some time in the future.
