Desperately seeking frozen Rhubarb!

I used to be able to count on Gelson's, but even they seem to have abandoned me!

I must make a Rhubarb pie or the world will open up and swallow me. There must be someplace?


(I live in North Hollywood, but I would be willing to travel ... west end of the valley, Arcadia, West LA... no problem. It starts to get a little painful when you say Long Beach or Diamond Bar.)

  1. For the last couple of weeks at least, one of the produce vendors at the Saturday Pasadena Farmer's Market has been selling rhubarb at $1for 3 stalks. I know because I bought them last week intending to make a compote. The stalks are pretty puny. I bet you could find it at the Sunday Hollywood Farmer's Market.

    1. I believe I have seen it fresh in Whole Foods and in a couple Stater Bros. stores - call around.

      1. I've never seen it frozen but I've seen it fresh way overpriced at Whole Foods (3rd & Fairfax) last week (something like $7.99 a pound). The season is over, so the stalks I've seen didn't look that great, especially at this price.
