Bakeries with special Christmas desserts?

sfwork Dec 13, 2008 08:28 AM

I'd like to order a Christmas dessert (say a bouche de noel or a croquembouche). Anyone have suggestions? Last year we got bouche de noels from La Boulangerie (SF) and Cafe Madeline and both were a bit disappointing. However, the sugar cookies from Cafe Madeline were fantastic and really beautiful. Would love to hear your ideas -- I'm sure the deadline for xmas orders is fast approaching so please reply soon! Thanks

Masse's makes the best bouche de noel I've had in the Bay Area. There are three types, regular, lemon and German Chocolate. Surprisingly the lemon was my favorite. They do both regular and mini. They are always beautifully decorated.

I hated the bouche I bought one year at La Boulangerie.

Atomica's link to the holiday thread mentions Thorough bread and pastry. has a bouche. Haven't tried it yet but everything else is so good that I am guessing it is good.
