Is Martinique really Caribbean these days? My impression (and I haven't been there in months), is that the current chef is more traditionally French.

Dominique left Dominique's, so I suspect the menu will be changing soon.

my last visit there about a month go, Martinique had a four course Caribbean special menu featuring Guadalupe (if I have my islands correct). the food was divine.

Yeah, I find it to be mostly french, too, but it bills itself as french/caribbean so I posted it. We consider it a cold-weather restaurant because most of their stuff is really heavy, comfort food. It's like eating chicken/sausage gumbo in August. It's just too friggin hot. I can't see people eating many of their dishes in the warmer climes. It's excellent though. I'll be at their other restaurant in Houma this week. Look forward to that, too.

          Calypso in Covington

I might include Iris for some of their dishes.
