Calgary - $40-65 Prix Fixe Menu?

Our office's social club is looking to organize a sit-down dinner in February 2009. I'm hoping to book 3 to 4 courses of good food at a reasonable price -- $40 - $65 per head. Right now, I'm considering the Highwood at SAIT... and that's the only place I can think of.

Does anyone else have ideas for restaurants with fixed menus in that price range? It's alright if everyone eats basically the same thing (with allowances for dietary restrictions). Maybe I'm asking for too much...

    1. We went to Brava Bistro on 17th Ave on Sunday night for their Prix Fixe which was $38/each in a group of 8. Very good food and a nice atmosphere without really loud music so you can socialize easily. There was a choice of three starters, three mains and two deserts, although they did not have a vegetarian option for the main. On that night the main was a crusted loin of lamb, braised short rib or seafood risotto, all of which were very well done but some said parts of the dishes were a bit salty. I did not find the dishes that way but perhaps the seasoning was a little inconsistent. My desert of white chocolate pound cake was amazing and the highlight of the evening. I would definitely go back.

        1. I'd second Redwater. I've been to the one in the NW and it was absolutely excellent. I would LOVE to go back.

And eek! at that experience at Osteria! I went there for lunch once and had a great meal, but if there had been a lingerie show I would have run for cover. I feel a bit bad for them. That place must be struggling... but it's certainly too expensive for this.

i've only been to the redwater on 16th Ave by the stadium and it was could have killed someone with the bread under the shrimp, smothered in sauce.... i have friends that love the SW location though

Really? My sister and I had that shrimp dish and it was wonderful... we couldn't get enough of it, although we'd never seen bread under shrimp before.

        2. st. germain, blink and tribune were doing set menu's in the summer - not sure if that is still going on....worth looking into, they would all be great choices.

when i was at Blink last week there were several large groups with special menus, but for the $65, you could easily order off the menu and get 3 courses.

          2. Thanks for all the suggestions! I'll check them out and report back.
