For all the Vancouver Java-Hounds - new Elysian location

islandgirl Dec 11, 2008 08:29 AM

Just an FYI, the Elysian Room has just opened a new location in the old Cafe Duma space on Ash and Broadway.

More spartan decor than the 5th ave & Burrard location but great coffee (Clover machine)...

I popped in a couple of times last week. Very nice coffee, of course....Alistair is a very knowledgeable coffee guy. The Elysian's first location was one of the first cafes anywhere to get a Clover (I believe Artigiano had the first).

I love Elysian and always have since my first espresso there about 5 years ago. Their new location is beautiful and is an awesome location, especially in an area that really doesn't have any good coffee. Staff are great, and the bar the whole length of the windows at the front makes for great people watching.

You're right fmed, I'm pretty sure Artigiano had the first too, but it might not have been open to customers when Elysian had their's up and running. I got a pour from the first cup made on the Elysian Clover!

Artigiano on Hornby indeed had the first one. Elysian was distributor until they were sold, I'm not sure what the official status is now. Last I heard, they were going to provide maintenance service.

I'm pretty sure Barrett is saying that Elysian will be honouring maintenance contracts for Clover in Canada.
