paint can opener tip

I don't know if this is as amazing for you all as it was for me but I had to share. On a recent trip to home depot to buy paint the guy working the department gave me one of these paint can openers, they had a whole bucket full. It looks like this:

Anyway, it was great for opening the paint can. Then I realized it can also open those paint can lids on cocoa without me resorting to bending a spoon. The icing on the cake is that the rounded end is also the best bottle opener I've ever used. It doesn't even bend the caps so I can save the extra special ones.

In short: free kitchen gadget that is actually useful.

  1. TY, mortar! Free is good--especially if it saves my silverwares' lives. :-)

The rounded end looks like the bottle openers my parents used to have when I was a child, before twist tops. Before plastic, for that matter.

    1. My husband and I bought a can of paint last weekend and I said we should get one of those.

'Why? We have things at home like screwdrivers and knives.'

We haven't opened the paint yet. Maybe it's not too late for me to save our cutlery!

      1. I have a few of these and they are among the most used tools in my kitchen. I actually thought it was a bottle opener. I use the round end to open beer bottles and the like. The other end pries things off. It works really well on super tightly sealed jars, like with pickles, Slide the flat tip under the edge to break the vacuum seal and then twist off the top.
