Keen's -ordering rec'ns for lunch

yebo Dec 10, 2008 11:19 AM

I'm going to keen's 1st time ,by myself (with myself?) next week for lunch. Beside the mutton, which I plan to have (rare?medium?as chef desires?), recommendations for must-haves. Between side dish, app, dessert, what priorities?

If you don't want to overindulge, you can order a smaller portion of the mutton if you choose to sit in the pub room rather than the main dining room.

i'm fond of their fried-chicken/stilton/endive salad...and the oysters are usually very good...

I went last week - couldn't face the mutton chop as it looked so enormous but had lobster bisque, prime rib, creamed spinach and chocolate mousse and it was perfect!

Not sure if I'm allowed to post this here or need to post this as a new thread but does Keen's have a festive atmosphere around the holidays? Do they decorate at all? What's the noise level like in the dining room? I've only had drinks in the pub.

It is so intimate and quaint that it has a sort of built-in festiveness. It's very Dickensian!
