How to make stomboli's from frozen pizza dough
We loved a stomboli from out local pizza place. "Chicken Stomboli and we would have them add Asiago Cheese" Well hubby lost job, so no ordering out!
We have been craving these. So I bought a 2 ball pack of frozen pizza dough and have it defrosted in refirgerator and ready to go tonight. I am breading the chicken and frying as that how the local did it, and have Asiago all ready to grate and tons on Mozzerella cheese (was on sale) smile..
Problem, I Never did this before and back of package only has Calzone and they say to deep FRY it! ugg
How can I do this in oven? What temp? Egg wash? HELP PLEASE..

A Stromboli is very much like a Calzone ...
Thaw the dough, preheat your oven to about 400 degrees and prepare your fillings as usual. Unroll the dough, spread it out (like you might do for a pizza except you should try to make it relatively square) and put it on a cookie sheet (silpat or cooking spray is a good idea)
Spread your sauce on (leave the sauce off of the outer an inch or two of your dough) and put on your cheese and all the other ingredients for your filling.
Roll the edges back up over your filling and bake until nicely browned (about 15 or 20 minutes)
Egg wash makes for a pretty finish but I don't see any reason to do that ... unless you want to impress someone at the table.
