Bone Marrow in SD???

The wife had a dream about it last night. I know whisknladle has it on their appetizer menu. Is it regularly on the menu elsewhere in town??

Its really super easy to make. Ever wonder why there are huge dinosaur looking bones at tip top? no, not for a giant dog. They will cut them into chunks for making marrow. Its as simple as putting some kosher salt on and letting roast (just google for degrees and time). I like them with a caper anchovy parsley salsa verde. Just make sure the person puts some effort into cutting them evenly. Its not as pretty when some are giant and some are small.

Not really sure why I have not done this at home. Going to talk to the butcher about this on Sunday. Thanks for the motivation.

Probably easier to get off a human in san diego!

      Just playing.

The only place I have had it is starlight on their sausage board. Decent.

Most people in San Diego get grossed out by it. Maybe in 20 years.

I dream of this also and have only had renditions south of the border, I would love to find a spot in SD.

The marrow bones at WnL are great; they are cut in half length ways which makes it easy to get at the marrow with a knife. This is served with nice soft toasted bread and a parsley salad.

So basically St. John Bar & Restaurant's recipe? Sounds good to me, eating at St. John was one of the best meals of my life.

Fregus would be proud. Have yet to visit, need to move St. John's up towards the top of the list.

I've seen it at Starlite on one of their appetizer plates... but that was just one small bone.

You could also head to any butcher and get some marrow bones from them and roast them yourself.
